Through his worldwide research into its disappearance; author Frank Joseph has learned that the Ark was not a mere legend; nor was it just an elaborate box used to store the original Ten Commandments. It was; he asserts; purpose-built to harness the powers of the Earth for humanity's continued physical existence and spiritual evolutions.

ColeHardback; w/photographic DJ; 9.25" x 6.25"; 252 Pages; 26 very small color plates featuring tribal chiefs; plus various small B/W photos. Published by the Smithsonian Museum in 1996.This is very much a specialty book: a detailed account of Yoruba Kingship and tribal chief rites; and possibly adequate within that context. However...I was expecting and hoping for coverage of the tribal artifacts employed; but; apart from the cover; this is not the case. There is very little in the way of visual representation of Yoruba kingship or culture; and the text is very heavy going.I realize that negative reviews are tougher to accept than positive reviews; but it's just a sad fact that some books totally miss the mark on just about every level; and this is one of them. BTW : The person I sold it to on eBay wasn't thrilled with it; either.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. great exploration of Yoruba kingshipBy Kindle CustomerThis is an excellent analysis of Yoruba kingship; based on a Kwara State kingdom. It's an academic; anthropological study--not a Yoruba art book; as another reviewer seemed to expect. But if you want a detailed case study of the rituals and protocols of a representative Yoruba kingdom; written by a scholar who has spent time in Ila_Orangun over decades; you will be deeply satisfied.
