During the Nazi occupation of Holland; Ann and Bets Frank; two blind middle-aged music teachers gave shelter to a medical student and a Jewish woman. When the Gestapo raided the house they caught the Jewish woman; but the student escaped. He survived; working in a coalmine. Eyes of the Blind tells their incredible story.

My Grand-Father was a welder at Mare Island during WWII and I've long been curious as to the shipbuilding industry in the Bay Area. This book provides an excellent look at the many yards in the area and the work they did and; perhaps more importantly; the men and woman that built the ships that helped win that war. Picture quality is good and the captions are well written and informative. The only think lacking is a map showing yard locations. Highly recommended.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. They are always well received. This one was purchased for my father who was in the Navy during WWII. He was stationed at Mare Island for training and served on a Destroyer Escort built there. He was very happy with his gift.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. and offers a great insight to the shipyards of the SF Bay AreaBy Sharon L.
