Without a Doubt

audiobook Without a Doubt by Marcia Clark in History

Description

Hymns are more than beautiful musical compositions; they provide us with a heightened language for praising and speaking to God; all while teaching us theology that reflects both the depth and complexity of Our Lord. Sacred hymns in our day have given way to fifth-rate poetry set to fourth-rate music; as C.S. Lewis once remarked. At times; the music used in worship can make us feel as though the culture is usurping the Church rather than being transfigured by it. There is a clear and present need to resurrect those distinctively different songs with a distinctively different vocabulary for people who want to live distinctive lives as followers of Christ. In these pages; Fr. George William Rutler introduces and reflects upon dozens of the greatest hymns written from the earliest years of the Church through the Twentieth Century. The text and composition of each hymn is included; as well as inspiring accounts of their authors and composers; fascinating stories and historical events connected with them; and notes on the significant contributions each one made to theology and music. Fr. Rutler has recovered here a rich musical legacy that will help us to give glory to our God who is Lord of all.

Great book...By MGRAYI enjoy courtroom drama; I read a couple of Marcia Clark's other books first; Blood Defense and Moral Defense; they were excellent; great books. I didn't think I could stay interested in a book that I already knew the ending; but I was wrong; she kelp me glued to the story. We all watched it in the 90's; but a lot we didn't see or hear; and I wondered why he was found not guilty in the criminal trial; but guilty in the civil trial.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A strong woman's fight for justice!By Barbara RentonAfter seeing that boring trial with irritating witnesses (like Kato who were too stoned or coherced into speaking plainly or honestly); it is plain that the real culprit and this trial getting delayed and sidetracked was by a corrupt and idiotic LAPD. If they weren't so much into glorifying an ex- star athlete; they would have clearly seen the obvious evidence which would have made anyone else 100% guilty! It is divine justice which keeps this older; greying wife-beater murderer in a Nevada prison.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wealthy abuser gets away with murder!By CustomerI feel Marcia Clark worked her bones off on this trial and I am glad she started writing her book shortly after the trial. She is brilliant! Lots of details of trial that I didn't know. I like how she touched on her own personal life as well; while going through the trial. There was a lot of evidence that was not allowed by judge. If all evidence had been admitted; maybe OJ would be in prison for murder. I feel the jury was going to find OJ not guilty regardless of evidence against him.
