ebooks With G-d at My Side: A Child's Story of Survival by Menachem Taiblum in History

Description

This thesis examines the generalship; leadership; and operational art of General James N. Mattis; US Marine Corps by using Task Force 58 in Afghanistan as a formative base and then comparing elements of operational art to the conduct of the 1st Marine Division in Operation Iraqi Freedom; 2003. Mattis draws upon many historical influences that shape his operational design in both campaigns. He puts great effort and focus on ensuring that his commander’s intent is understood by all his subordinates and uses a preference for a small staff in the planning and execution of his intent. He makes heavy use of personally selected liaison officers to form and sustain habitual relationships with higher and adjacent units. Through the use of historical examples and a refusal to be constrained by doctrine and popular thought he uses innovative approaches in his design. These innovative approaches often constitute paradigm shifts with contemporary thought and doctrine. A ‘Mattis Way of War’ is postulated in the conclusion which draws from his use of history; commander’s intent; and leadership to build up a capacity; or potential energy; for action in his unit. Once built up; he unleashes this energy utilizing explicit trust in his staff and subordinates.

Never Forget; Always RememberBy Jake SchorA chilling story told through the eyes of a boy who turned 13 the night he escaped through the sewers of Warsaw only to return to the ghetto two days later; empty of Jews. Had it not been for his faith in G-d and the kindness of handful of good-hearted souls; he would have perished and the world would have lost a voice that has urged many thousands over sixty years never to forget; always to remember; a voice that has sung Torah and Yiddish songs to Jews from the Catskills to Miami and to Portland; Oregon. The writing is straightforward without malice towards the Germans or the Poles who could never be punished enough for their cruelty. The memoir is an easy read for teens; a book in which they can empathize with the author; and a slice of history for adults. It almost beggars belief that 75 years after the War; antisemitism is back in the same; if not greater degree; throughout the world. Whether through ignorance of the holocaust itself or the preaching of killing of Jews it is sad testimony to the baseness of man. Manny's book is a slice of history as seen through the eyes of a boy who lost his boyhood through witnessing inhuman acts but never lost his faith in G-d. Highly recommended reading!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Nail biting account of life during the Holocaust.By FrankThis is an excellent book to read that will show not only the horrors of the Holocaust; but the hand of God on his people. It is well written and really moves along and keeps a persons attention. Menachem's experience is such a miracle and so exciting that I would recommend that it be made into a movie. It would really do well. Please buy and read and share with as many others as possible.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Amazing story!By dinaVery well written story.
