audiobook When the Drummers Were Women: A Spiritual History of Rhythm by Layne Redmond in History

Description

In The Great Pyramid: A Factory for Mono-Atomic Gold; Cross identifies the purpose of the structure; what it was making; and the significance of this substance. The world is dominated by an all encompassing hierarchical system which is in and of itself involved in a relentless pursuit of money and energy extracted from the masses. So what is money? It can ultimately be traced in root to an element known as gold. It has been this way for thousands of years. So why is gold the chosen foundational token propping up the global economy? This question is examined and answered within this book.

A Spiritual and Cultural ClassicBy Phyllis CapannaThoroughly researched and scholarly; this unique look at the spirituality of the ancient world is a classic in the frame drumming community worldwide. Layne Redmond discovered her life's work apprenticing to a male percussionist at a time (1960's) when women did not drum. She soon discovered that his collection of artwork from the ancient world; when drumming played an important role in sacred rites; were depictions of goddesses and priestesses. Just as Redmond's search for her spiritual roots as a woman percussionist lead her to produce this book; the book itself contains important information about the spiritual roots of all women today. If you are on such a quest; whether or not you drum; read this book and meet your spiritual ancestors. If you do drum; read this book and learn more about what the ancients knew about the powerful healing qualities of drumming.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I enjoy and recommend this bookBy W. SkovoI enjoy and recommend this book. It's very Goddess-y; I've already read a lot of Goddess-y things so I was hoping she'd get right into the drumming connection. Haven't finished the book yet; but have been playing with drums... I got her first instructional DVD (see preview of that on Youtube). She's also got some drums designed to her specifications with Remo (look them at her website); affordable... I love them; got a 16 inch Tar and a Tambourine. Never knew a person could do so much with a frame drum and Tambourine until I met (virtually) Layne Redmond.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Resonate ReflectionsBy MaryOneThis book is one that I will keep for as long as I live; and will re-visit it; and re-read it as desired. This book is so rich; and informative; but beyond that it also provides a glimpse into the essence and power of the sacred practice of drumming (for women). I highly recommend this to any female drummers or percussionist; or to anyone who's interested or already involved in drumming.
