3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. it is the best publication; BY FARBy William WallaceIts a bit of a hard read! You really have to want to "learn" about the life and culture of the highlander to grind thru this book. BUT; it is the best publication; BY FAR; I have found on the lifestyle and culture of the Gaelic Highlanders! Believe me; I have read a lot of books on the Scottish highlands and Isles !!!Michael Newtons book "Handbook to the Scottish Gaelic World" is basically the same info in this book.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Great read.By JeffThis book is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in the world of The Gaelic Highlander. It goes into a great deal of depth on a variety of subjects. I bought it as a way tyo learn more about the traditional Lifestyle of my Highland Ancestors so that I could pay better Homage to my Ancestors and Gods. This book does delve into the Pagan Lore of Highland Scotland and was very informative in that regard.I highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to know more of the Gaels of Scotland.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Tha an leabhar seo math fhein gu dearbh!By Frederick N. BosworthThis book is great! It is highly readable; many cultural topics are thoroughly covered; it is very well seasoned with Gaelic idioms and sayings -- good Gaelic; too; and well translated!Anyone interested in the culture of the Scottish Highlands (or even Celtic culture in general) should have this book in his/her library. That goes double for anyone at all interested in Scottish Gaelic; but English-only readers will also find it very enjoyable. I have bought this book for friends and they are ecstatic with it.
