I had to put it up because my baby son kept grabbing the pages as soon as I opened this old school masterwork tour de force on the luftwaffe aircraft types! Now he's napping and as soon as this review is done I'll give you one guess what I'll be doing tonight! While it does feature the incorrect 386 mph top speed of the Messerschmitt 109 G-6 with MW50 boost; this is easily forgivable in light of the absolute excellence and painstaking detail; multiple photographs of ultra rare types (three pages with photos of the Messerschmitt 309!) and detailed stats of engine output etc...not to mention the color plates of paint schemes of various squadrons which are a highlight to any WW2 aircraft book.Dare I say it? it might be better than "Hitler's Luftwaffe" by Tony Wood (no offense; your book is on my short list as well!); which is another must have; five star title for the serious student of World War 2 aircraft and Luftwaffe aficionados combined!!!No matter how you slice it; I am a sincerely satisfied customer!SincerelyMichele's Husband2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Now if someone would only write a similar reference for Japanese planes......By DarbLets face it folks... if you need a thorough reference for German planes during the second world war.... this is it.. It's all about detail... this book is almost overkill. I build RC model planes; and this book is THE reference source for aircraft of this era. Now if only someone would write a similar volume for Japanese planes....7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Warplanes of the Third ReichBy Richard M. CeragioliThis is a very nice version of this wonderful title for folks who are into the aircraft of The Third Reich.I owned a copy of the original back when it first came out; as I was into building scale models of this genre aircraft in my youth. Somewhere along the way during the last 40 years; I parted company with my original copy. This version is in a smaller format than the original; but in my opinion; nothing that has suffered. Maybe the original edition should have been in this size format! Some have complained that some of the photographs are not very good. In my opinion; they are the same in this edition as in the original. I always thought that the photos were not very high quality; but since most of them were taken from 1930-1945; quite often under less than ideal circumstances; I have always thought "For God's sake; we're extremely lucky to have ANY photos of some of these aircraft!". Maybe someone could Photoshop them a bit and improve them for a future edition? Also; the color plates by William Green that come in this edition are a great extra that was not present in the original; as I recall. These were scarce; and highly sought after; back in the 1970's by scale modelers.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an authoritative reference on German WWII military aircraft; as it is probably the best volume available on the aircraft of this time in history.
