Great ReadingBy Iva BuchThis book which deals with the Leibstandarte from the period of 1933 to 1939 is a great introduction to the unit in question.It starts out as the personal bodygurad to Adolf Hitler and by the wars start has grown in numbers to a motorised regiment.The book is excellent for those who wish to know about the major leaders in the leadup to the war; the daily routine;uniform and equipment which is shown in great photos; and the barracks in Berlin.I really enjoyed reading this book for the background information on this unit; it is the first of two editions by Bender the second is to deal with the war years. In fact I enjoyed it that much that I e mailed the publisher as to when the second edition was coming out !.Overall a great read and well worth the money if you can find it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
