The Gods of the Northern Tradition--the religion of the ancient Norse/Germanic/Anglo-Saxon peoples--have been rediscovered in growing numbers in the past years; as have the elves and dwarves that inhabit the Nine Worlds of the Cosmic Tree along with them. However; few have written about the Giants of those worlds and the Gods who number among them--Loki; Hela; Fenris; the World Serpent; and others--until now. The Jotunbok--the first book in the Northern-Tradition Shamanism series--is a collection of the wisdom; ways and tales of the Giants and their Gods; told by those who revere and work with them.

An army on the brink of extinction....By HMS WarspiteIn the winter of 1776-1777; George Washington's small Continental Army hovered on the very brink of extinction; following defeats in and around New York City and a long retreat across New Jersey. With many enlistments due to expire at the end of December; General Washington and the new nation truly faced "times that try men's souls." However; the stalwart Washington rallied his small army and decided to gamble everything by going over to the offensive."Trenton and Princeton 1776-1777" is an Osprey Campaign Series book and a good one. Author David Bonk provides an exciting narrative of Washington's daring crossing of the Delaware for a Christmas night attack on a Hessian garrison at Trenton. Washington's army; reinforced by militia; crossed the river a second time just before the end of December; first to face down a British force at Assunpink Creek; then to steal a march and surprise the British garrison at Princeton. As the author makes clear; Washington took great risks; but his small army fought surprisingly well. As the author also makes clear; the importance of this winter campaign can hardly be overstated. The text is augmented by a nice collection of photographs; maps; diagrams and illustrations. Recommended as a very good introduction to a sometimes overlooked campaign of the American Revolution.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy William L Hickmangreat buy0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This book gives a great overview and summary of the battles.By RobertI love the Osprey books on the American Revolution. They give a concise history; make for a quick reference work; and provide enough details to understand the action. The images always include current photographs of the sites; maps; and contemporary artwork of the leaders. The serious researcher can use the Osprey books for an overview before delving into more in depth and detailed studies.
