Thank you From a Grateful American CzechBy rennaskodaA professor located this book for me some years ago when I was writing a paper for a class in graduate school. Ms.Korytova-Magstadt was a graduate of Charles University in Prague working at a branch campus of the University of Nebraska. Not only was the book useful for the paper I was writing; I was charmed by the writer's remarks about Nebraska Czechs. She showed me--for the first time in my life--how very ethnic Czech my family is. I loved this book and her for writing it.She included a short poem about the Niobrara River in the preface. My father's land lay across that same river. It is an incredible book for Czechs on the high plains.12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Genealogists will flipBy A CustomerA really interesting and useful book. Explains some of the great mysteries of Czech immigration to America; as well as how to start following their trail back to the old country. Specifically for Bohemians and Moravians west of the Mississippi; but certainly useful east as well. Don't know if it's helpful for Slovakians or not. Black white photos including a dandy with a billy goat pulling two children in a cart; excellent bibliography; notes; terms; some surnames. I'm not employed by the publisher and do not know the author.
