The 49th North Carolina saw action as part of Ransom's Brigade. It fought at Malvern Hill; served in the North Carolina/southern Virginia region; and later participated in the 1864 siege of Petersburg. Good details on the Battle of the Crater.

Though if you are looking for ancestors be mindful of misspellings. The author named a soldier as Lorenzo while the 1860 census his name is Lorensy. I did agree that it was a simple mistake as the writing is difficult to read. Also some didn't know how to read or write and often times a name is spelled how it sounded.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
