In my opinion; the copy I received did not match the "very good" condition that was listed in description. I guess that it should have been posted elsewhere. 2 or 3 stars for hippo. The book I give 4 stars. "The other South: Southern dissenters in the nineteenth century" by Carl N. Degler; is excellent. A classic for sure. It was written in 1974; but has stood the test of time. I thought it would be stuffy and academic as it was written by a Stanford professor--I am so biased! But it is not. Instead; it is a very readable popular history interestingly written for the average person and is very much about the people. I am learning a lot about Southern history a subject I am totally dense about. There are many; many used copies out there all going very cheaply. It must have been used as a standard text at one time.
