Thrilling submarine espionage and an inside look at the U.S. Navy's "silent service" Stalking the Red Bear; for the first time ever; describes the action principally from the perspective of a commanding officer of a nuclear submarine during the Cold War -- the one man aboard a sub who makes the critical decisions -- taking readers closer to the Soviet target than any work on submarine espionage has ever done before. This is the untold story of a covert submarine espionage operation against the Soviet Union during the Cold War as experienced by the Commanding Officer of an active submarine. Few individuals outside the intelligence and submarine communities knew anything about these top-secret missions. Cloaking itself in virtual invisibility to avoid detection; the USS Blackfin went sub vs. sub deep within Soviet-controlled waters north of the Arctic Circle; where the risks were extraordinarily high and anything could happen. Readers will know what it was like to carry out a covert mission aboard a nuke and experience the sights; sounds; and dangers unique to submarining.

HamiltonThis book is outstanding in every way and should be used in every college or school in America to try to teach students about the American phase of what Winston Churchill referred to as the first world war. Earlier generations have been deprived of; or not taken advantage of; the opportunity to learn about this most important and decisive war; which settled the score in many ways between France and England in America and elsewhere in the 18th century; and laid the foundation for the American Revolution. Use of the various source documents for the commentary is an extremely effective way to teach the subject; as well as; hopefully; to instill curiosity in the students to read other such documents to improve their understanding of this most important era and critically examine this period of our nation's history. This book is accurate; concise; and easily read and covers all topics from the French perspective; the complicated American Indian confederacies to Braddock's defeat; British campaigns and the seeds of Pontiac's rebellion. It thoroughly covers the subject with good references to continue learning about the events of this time; as well as to inspire students to learn about the related happenings in Europe which dominated the efforts of France to try to protect its interest there at the expense of the loss of New France. This book is not only useful for students in their studies; but for the rest of as as a ready reference and overall guide in our further reading of this era. It certainly serves as a good primer to launch into more detailed books; such as Fred Anderson's wonderful work; The Crucible of War:The Seven Years' War and the Fate of Empire in British North America; 1754-1766.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Nice product. I really enjoyed buying from this websiteBy peteNice product.I really enjoyed buying from this website; but the owner blew it. I will begin purchasing items from other companies and websites that believe in the rule of law. I was born in Mexico and came over the right way. I also assimilated. Illegal is just that. The law needs to be followed.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy Time On HandsThis is a great book. Loved reading it. It arrived as scheduled and in great condition
