DOC The Russian Army of the Napoleonic Wars (1) : Infantry 1799-1814 (Men-At-Arms Series; 185) by Philip Haythornthwaite in History

Description

A key player in the annexation of Austria in 1938; Odilo Globocnik was made Gauleiter of Vienna for seven months until the Nazi party forced him to resign because of his abrasive manner; murky financial dealings; and blatant incompetence. Due to a close personal relationship with Heinrich Himmler; however; Globocnik was named to the seminal post of Lubin SS and Police Chief from 1939 to 1943; where he built and was in charge of some 150 camps; including the Majdanek camp and the killing centres of Belzec; Sobibor; and Treblinka.

WilliamsOutstanding work; really one of the very best Osprey Men-At-Arms books available. The text is actually very interesting; and the color plates are among the best I've ever seen. I'm especially glad to see that in this volume; Osprey has stayed away from its usual practice of filling up loads of space on officers and special units. Rather; the focus is on the common soldier in the ranks and color plates take you nicely through the evolution of uniforms and equipment that took place during this span of time. One missing element are details about flags and fanions (smaller flags carried at the company and batallion level).0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good book covering this materialBy Scott BaileyDid not know much about this army during this period covered. After reading I learned from this book the uniforms and formation of this army. Combat history is also discussed on a limited bases. Good book for anyone wanting to know about this army. Good drawing on uniforms is a plus.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good condensationBy Lizabeth18th 19th century uniforms were ever-changing in Europe. This short; well illustrated guide is excellent for all interesteed persons that are not reasearching tiny details. Every detail of botton and sash is not covered; but a good overview is presented.
