The Revolution Remembered: Eyewitness Accounts of the War for Independence (Clements Library Bicentennial Studies)

audiobook The Revolution Remembered: Eyewitness Accounts of the War for Independence (Clements Library Bicentennial Studies) by From University Of Chicago Press in History

Description

The Venture of Islam has been honored as a magisterial work of the mind since its publication in early 1975. In this three-volume study; illustrated with charts and maps; Hodgson traces and interprets the historical development of Islamic civilization from before the birth of Muhammad to the middle of the twentieth century. This work grew out of the famous course on Islamic civilization that Hodgson created and taught for many years at the University of Chicago. In the second work of this three-volume set; Hodgson investigates the establishment of an international Islamic civilization through about 1500. This includes a theoretical discussion of cultural patterning in the Islamic world and the Occident."This is a nonpareil work; not only because of its command of its subject but also because it demonstrates how; ideally; history should be written."—The New Yorker

Yes; it really happened...they were there!By RevGingerI am dipping into this book; reading the accounts written or dictated by different people who were actually there during the birth pangs of our country. I can see it is going to be a great resource for me; since my retirement career is writing; with a focus on Revolutionary War history and fiction. It's obfious that I am going to glean LOTS of material from this book and I am so glad to have found it!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Revolutionary learning.By Marsha DavisI am very interested in the Revolutionary War since many of my family branches fought in the war. I think this book is a good example for learning what it was really like. These stories are by people who lived through it; not just stories Hollywood made up. I would recommend this to any history buff.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy rebelthreadGreat
