Description

Pirates of Savannah : The Trilogy includes "Sold in Savannah"; "Battle Rats" and "The Rise of April"; The trilogy is a historical fiction novel about the birth of liberty in the south. It takes place during pre-Revolutionary War age; truly a fascinating time in history that has been greatly ignored by other authors. At its heart; it is a tale of prisoners; refugees and society’s casts offs all joining together to escape from government tyranny and discover a path to liberty. Find out how a group of oppressed colonists gain the courage to start defying authority and begin planning a revolution from British control. It is a gritty; vivid account of what life was like in the 1700's and is loaded with real; obscure historical events that time erased and buried. Follow the group of freedom seekers as their adventure takes them through Savannah; the Florida Keys; St. Augustine; Charles Towne and Cape Fear; as well as many other towns of the Low Country. Most importantly it is a fun read loaded with action. Please note: There are two versions of this novel; one for adults and one that has been adapted to be the first in a trilogy of novels for young adults. If you spend your booty on this; you're buying the adult version; yarrr.

Was this an exercise by the victors to get revenge from a ruthless enemy that started an unnecessary global disaster or an effort to send a message to future amoral leaders that their crimes would not go unpunished. While reading the book it becomes clear that the trial meant different things to different people. From Jackson's clear and logical opening statement to Goering's attempt to save his neck by avoiding direct questions and adding commentary to redirect the court's attention; this book was hard to put down. This is raw history with no spices added. Enjoy it; learn from it and draw your own conclusions.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Interesting; but nothing new and not helpfulBy B. LindseyWhile this book collects some of the most interesting excerpts from the first Nuremberg Trials in 1946-47; it has no citations telling you where the excerpts came from and where to find them. This may seem trivial; but the Nuremberg Trial documents are not terribly easy to navigate. That information would help anyone who is beginning their studies on the trial or one of the defendants or witnesses a great deal. Also; it is just good academic behavior to cite your source. All of the first Nuremberg trial documents and cases are available online [...]; so for anyone who wants to take the extra time; there is much more available to study. The book is good for the non-professional; simply interested in getting the Spark's Notes version of the testimonies. For students; however; the book should only act as a stepping stone to the actual documents. But because document and case numbers are not given; it does not fill that role.
