The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskritepics of ancient India; the other being the Ramayana. Besides its epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kaurava and the Pandava princes; the Mahabharata contains philosophical and devotional material; such as a discussion of the four "goals of life" or purusharthas.

But of course; the real story here is just the surreal fighting and conflict as well as the author's delayed onset ptsd. I recently read a book by a Vietnam vet and he too had to deal with acute ptsd nearly twenty years after the war.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great Personal Account of the Korean WarBy CustomerHaving met Nick this past spring at an RV park in Las Vegas I can verify he is the real deal. His experiences are well described in his book. I enjoyed meeting and talking with him and getting a chance to read more about his experiences in Korea. Many Vietnam vets like myself can relate to the after effects if combat.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Gritty description of war. Really enlightening.
