The Myth of Hitler's Pope: Pope Pius XII And His Secret War Against Nazi Germany

audiobook The Myth of Hitler's Pope: Pope Pius XII And His Secret War Against Nazi Germany by David G. Dalin in History

Description

In the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries; black runaways braved an escape from slavery in an unprecedented alliance with Seminole Indians in Florida. This is the story of the maroons’ ethnogenesis in Florida; their removal to the West; their role in the Texas Indian Wars; and the fate of their long quest for liberty and self-determination along both sides of the Rio Grande. Their tale is rich; colorful; and epic; stretching from the swamps of the Southeast to the desert Southwest. From a borderlands mosaic of slave hunters; corrupt Indian agents; Texas filibusters; Mexican revolutionaries; French invaders; Apache and Comanche raiders; frontier outlaws; lawmen; and Buffalo Soldiers; emerges a saga of enslavement; flight; exile; and ultimately freedom.

I certainly was impressed with the author's deep understanding of a very complex story and the defence of the Pope and Church from a Jewish perspective. It contains a well- argued defence of the efforts of Pope Pius XII and the Catholic Church to save as many members of the Jewish faith as possible from the Nazi Extermination camps. I though it contained a very thought provoking insight into the Liberal Media and its roll in the contemporary Cultural War currently being fought for Western Civilization. I must say I was very surprised to read the chapter dealing with 'Hitler's Mufti; Muslim Anti-Semitism and the Continueing War against the Jews'. It has certainly increased my understanding of the forces currently ingaged in the struggle to undermine our way of life. I would highly recommend this book for others to read; I am sure it will be a book I will repeatidly lend to others and I am equally sure it will be a book I will re-read many times and use to counter the comtempory liberal bias in our current society.I am left with a feeling of gratitude for the author for his efforts in righting the terrible erroneous injustice done to both Pope Pius XII and the Church during this bleak period of world history.4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A vindicated Pope who changed the course of HistoryBy A buyer's experience...This movie vindicated " Pope Pius XII and long overdue. I myself like many other Catholics thought he did not do enough to save Jews during Hitler's War II However; after reading more about this man and the false myth's that had circulated - I myself saw him like many other Catholic's and Jew's in a different light. The personal accounts about this is now in his good favor. The movie was a masterpiece and congratulations to the entire crew who accomplished this3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Well Documented Defense of Pope Pius -- Needs to Be Read in ContextBy Eddi HaskellThis is book is a very good compilation of defenses of Pope Pius and his actions during the Holocaust in saving Jewish lives. The only thing is the author (who happens to be a Rabbi) appears to have written this book with an end result in mind -- to exonerate Pope Pius of charges that he could not do all he could given his power. It is not by itself an objective piece of research; since it is written with with an end objective in mind. One thing which was interesting is information on how Pope Pius had Jewish friends in school and during his youth -- and how this may have helped him get a positive image of the Jewish people. If you purchase this book with the purpose of the book in mind; you will enjoy reading it.
