ThomasThis is an excellent study from the perspective of biblical theology that incorporates careful methodology and ethical application to the issues of violence; divorce and remarriage; homosexuality; anti-Judaism and ethnic conflict; and abortion. It is an academic "must read" with a high level of validity according to its methodology in these current discussions.I ordered the book in used but good condition. It turned out to be heavily and unhelpfully marked. Because of the quality and pertinence of the scholarship; it would have been better to have bought new; or at least an unmarked copy.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very impressed and thankful for the clarity Richard B Hays has helped to revealBy Michael KleinhausMuch of this book was challenging to my view of how we interpret the new testament; but I found that the length Richard B Hays' goes to in order to stay intimately close to the intent of the authors of various books of the new testament very refreshing. I'm not one who reads many of these kinds of books but I understand why this would be considered a classic. I look forward to reading more from this well respected scholar.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
