Great book about an interesting project; inadvertently disproves the assumed great ages of ice coresBy Dave HarnishWell illustrated account of a huge undertaking. My primary interest in this book; though; is the fact that it totally debunks the error that the hundreds of thousands of Antarctic ice core rings are "annual"; as our kids are dogmatically taught in school. At least one photo in this book reveals hundreds of ice layers in the melting down through the 268 feet of ice (accumulated in only 50 years) to these planes; and Bob Cardin; expedition manager; verified the large number of "rings" years ago. Anyway; its a great book at a great price.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Ghosts From The Past.By CustomerIt is absolutely amazing to see the lenghts that dedicated people will go to for history. Most people could not careless about these ancient aircraft; but to those who know; no amount of effort at their retrieval is too much. The fact that these men were able to dig down into the Greenland Ice; in very difficult conditions; is a testament to their interest in WW2 history. It must have been thrilling to see Glacier Girl fly again; It must have been like bringing the past to life again. These aircraft represent a significant part of american and world history. They should not be forgotten. I highly recommend this book to people who are interested in WW2; it is well worth it. JRV0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
