When a small; peculiar; palm-sized clay tablet made its way to the desk of Irving Finkel; Assyriologist and Assistant Keeper at the British Museum; Finkel could hardly believe his luck. What he discovered was a missing piece in the story of Noah and the Ark. In this captivating; absorbing work of scholarship; Finkel; a world authority on ancient Mesopotamia; leads the reader on a detective hunt for the prototype of Noah’s Ark—from cuneiform wedges to bundles of reeds; from ancient Babylon to modern Iraq; Finkel reveals new information on the origin of the Babylonian Flood story which pre-dates the biblical deluge; including the surprising size and shape of the boat itself; and even where it came to rest. New to this edition; Finkel puts the “Ark Tablet†to the test in building a modern version of the ship. Throughout; The Ark Before Noah takes us on an adventurous voyage of discovery; opening the door to an enthralling world of ancient voices and historical lore.

M MillsQueen Elizabeth II (born in 1926 who has reigned since 1953 making her the longest service monarch in British history) is a great queen and a kind and loving Christian wife and mother. She has four children: Charles wed to Camilla Parker Bowles; Anne; Andrew and Edward. She has been married to Prince Philip of Greece since November 20; 1947. She is a model of grace; dignity and the stiff upper lip! Elizabeth is an expert on all things horseflesh and could be a trainer if she had lived a private life. The queen has seen difficulties galore dealing with the divorces of her children; several family scandals and the deaths of loved ones such as her father George VI and her mother Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. She has toured the world several times and visited the 54 nations of the Commonwealth innumerable times. She loves the United States and was personal friends with the Reagans. Her eleven prime ministers began with Winston Churchill. She is an intelligent person who is formal and regal in her behavior. Great Britain could not ask for a greater queen and when she passes the British nation and world will miss her. Sally Bedell Smith is an American author who has penned biographies of Prince Charles; Lady Diana and Pamela Churchill . She knows the royal family and her book is well researched. An enjoyable and well written book that opens the doors of the queen's many castles to shed light on the magic of monarchy! Rule Britannia! God Save the Queen! Well recommended for hours of reading pleasure and edification!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It goes into details about each aspect of her life (both public and private). It can be a little boring at times but overall; it is a good read.
