The Immigration Crisis: Nativism; Armed Vigilantism; and the Rise of a Countervailing MovementBy Hobbes8Despite what I take to be an overall lack of editing done by the author; or (forbid!) the editor him or herself of this book; I find it to be a thorough and interesting addition to the rest of Navarro's textbooks. What this book is - more than anything - is a history book. If you're interested in the "other side;" the non-prevalent (some would say "dated;" I would say passionate) look at past and present issues facing Chicanos today; this is a good start. If nothing else; you've got the dates; events; history up the wazoo (pardon my language). Additionally; Navarro presents many a pressing point. Definitely worth a read.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Thorough US history pervasively lacking in our social studies curriculumBy AvidReaderAlthough the other reviews were as negative as you can get with one star; I completely disagree that it is one-sided. Nativists; however; will surely find it a threat.Navarro's book presents historical information; cites authorities on the topic; to provide FACTS that occurred in our history. What IS one-sided is the fact that in the United States; our curriculum focuses on all our victories; as well as western civilization...but says NOTHING about our neighbors despite the fact that their histories have contributed to shaping of our landscape. This is a must read to have a solid understanding about our immigration history.
