Explanations and motivations behind them could vary; as always in political and social matters; but general conclusions are unshakable - allies and others did not really entertained any efforts to save Jews in WWII time even when it was absolutely possible and cheap but very often instead indirectly collaborated with Nazis. All that period is a darkest and lowest point in human morale; which once more emphasizes how fragile our civilization is; even in "most advanced nations".
