AS DESCRIBEDBy hypathia0077NEW2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. which would be especially useful given the deviation from Ryan's organizationBy Santiago VegaThis text should not be grouped as "frequently bought together" with the William Granger Ryan translation Vol 1. The contents do not at all match what is to be expected from that translation; which gives Vol 1 2 contents. There's also no introduction; commentary; or context given; which would be especially useful given the deviation from Ryan's organization. His volumes give the saints in chronological order based on their feast days starting with the advent of Christ; which; according to de Voragine's prologue included in volume 1 of that translation is the order in which they were intended to be read.I would assume that translation to be superior; if only because Ryan indicates that he consulted at least three different versions in his translation; while this text is apparently only an "update" of the original 1483 English translation.
