Human Rights and Wrongs explains the persistence of crimes against humanity since the Holocaust-including slavery; terror; and genocide. Using extended country descriptions and analyses; the book goes beyond case studies to explain such gross human rights violations in terms of an integrated theory of life integrity; giving readers vivid illustrations in addition to a theoretical framework. Distinguished author Helen Fein then asks how we can arrest human wrongs and discusses whether democracy is the answer. She shows the positive links among human rights; freedom; and development and draws out policy recommendations from her findings.

Would like to get it back and get a book without an autograph since I know Gen Shadley and will request his autograph when I see him next!! Book excellent and shown the type of person he is - he will not let any soldier be in a situation like this without the proper party paying for the offense yet the upper ecelon is held accountable - sad that the lower idiots can get away easier and let their bosses pay the price!! Gen Shadley is such an upstanding person he is all about doing the right thing!!9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. The Game: An Incredibly Compelling Story!!By Mike B.As compelling a story as I've read in years!! I literally read this book in 2 days--found it hard to put down. As a career Soldier; I was both astounded and appalled at the lechers who abused their power as drill sergeants. I was almost as disappointed in some of the Army senior leadership's attempts to isolate Aberdeen as an "aberration;" when it obviously was not. I have nothing but tremendous respect for MG Shadley based on his focus on providing care for the victims; both past and present; as well as the transparency in his investigation. Wish we had more like him!6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Great Book!By D. LongAs a veteran and former CID agent; I was captivated by General Shadley's book which reveals the rampant sexual misconduct in our armed forces. A tremendous amount of courage is required for one to stand up and speak out about controversial issues; especially when doing so creates a risk of censureship; criticism or even the loss of deserved promotion and advancement. MG Shadley had the courage to delve into a very ugly situation within the ranks of US military personnel and to write the story for all to read. I salute you; General; for your courage and for a job well-done!
