Morris describes the Lesbian cultural institutions that were created in the second wave; particularly around wimmins music. The impact to wimmin who participated; how it changed their lives. An explanation/chronicling of what has happened over the last decade to Lesbian culture. Women who did not take part can read about how exciting; revolutionary and powerful creating such events were. For those of us who did participate it brings many memories and a sharper focus on how it has been erased and what can be done to resist.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. An Essential WorkBy EmAn absolutely essential read for all lesbians; as well as for anyone who has ever wondered if we've outgrown the need for such "labels" and distinctions. The Disappearing L is both rigorous and accessible; both personal and theoretically sound. Highly recommended.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A wake up call- I highly recommend.By BobbiI was impressed with the depth of this book. I was also alarmed and felt a need to take action which indicates to me the passion of the author. This book is also timely and I felt a bit ashamed of my own complacency. Many thanks to the author.
