Did The Confederates Have Coffee Tables?By Ross MenziesA moderately interesting coffee table book masquerading under a title so close to genuinely useful works - *The Turkish Steam Navy' 'The Chinese Steam Navy' - that I; for one; felt that I'd been conned. The book reaches 192 pages only thanks to being about half the 'height' of a normal technical publication; has no data tables; focuses almost exclusively on the Confederate ironclads and at the start of each chapter uses a combination of small gold font on green background that renders the text just about unreadable in any light. On the plus side it is generally well produced with some nice photos and has some interesting tidbits in its text. 3 stars is generous however. ..0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I highly recommend this a piece to fill in a blank hole ...By Feldmar TwomblebeeThere actually was a water born element to the Civil War despite what fans of Grant and Lee might think. I highly recommend this a piece to fill in a blank hole in the puzzle.5 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A great deal of information combined into one convenient location.By Charles W. SchedelA long awaited book that combines a great deal of information from a variety of sources into one convenient location. I would have given it 5 stars if it were not for the rather small font size (almost a given for any book printed in China) and the fact the the title pages of each chapter are printed in ?gold? ink on a dark blue background which in conjunction with the small font size makes them very difficult to read without the aid of a magnifying glass.
