ePub The Cheyenne Indians: Their History and Lifeways; Edited and Illustrated (Library of Perennial Philosophy) by George Bird Grinnell in History

Description

In his fascinating new book; Bosnian academic and former statesman; Rusmir Mahmutcehajic; explores how men and women traditionally ordered their communities; architecture; and habits of life to reflect the divine order; and how this order is coming under attack in an increasingly secularized modern world. In reflecting on how his own hometown of Stolac; Bosnia; has been destroyed and then rebuilt in the aftermath of the tragic Bosnia war; he offers explanations as to how different religious communities can live peacefully together in the future.

Accurate; Credible and InterestingBy 5/0“The Cheyenne Indians”; their History and Lifeways by George Bird GrinnellGrinnell was the most accurate; honest; observant; credible and talented of the chroniclers of Indian Life of the 19th century. Well he should be as he virtually lived with Cheyenne for the last 30-plus years of the 1800s.In this book the reader is treated to an often enlightening ground-level look at the Cheyenne culture of the 1800s. They are presented as real people with daily lives; daily trials; favorite games; evolving habits; cherished beliefs and human hearts. It’s a splendid read.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. DRAWS YOU INTO LIFE ON THE PLAINSBy crystalseaThis is an excellent book which gives insight to real daily life on the plains.
