Lodged between the unforgettable horrors of World War II and the cultural upheaval of Vietnam; the Korean conflict often fades by comparison. Yet; as recent events in North Korea prove; the effects of the war linger still. This tribute to those who fought -- written by a participant -- blends personal reminiscences and photographs to create a graphic impression of what went on. The information here covers the opposing armies; unique employment of the United Nations Command; use of helicopters in battle; Chinese attack and spring offensive; presidential citations; life in the line; patrolling; propaganda; and prisoners of war.

Before or after the visitBy NanckaufThis beautiful book serves both as an introduction to the Ajanta Caves before going and certainly as a documentary of what you've seen; once you're back. But don't consider packing it for the journey as it's quite heavy. The text contributors are knowledgeable and aptly chosen.11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Beautifully PhotographedBy A CustomerIf you are planning a trip to India; you should consider visiting the caves at Ajanta. If you are planning to visit the caves; you should read this book before the trip. You will get a lot more out of the experience of the caves if you know the Jataka stories and understand the Buddhist iconography described in this book.Even if you have no plans to travel to Ajanta; the boook contains beautiful photograpghs which will make a nice addition to any collection of art books or; for that matter; to any coffee table.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
