AkinI lived in the Klamath-Trinity area for eleven years and got to know and value the various people of the three tribes in the area; Hupa; Karuk and Yurok. I had the privilege of knowing Jimmy James and Sam Jones (and Sam's wife). I had a shoe repair shop nearby so I first met them there but came to know them as keepers of their land.Thomas Buckley shares what he learned; experienced and gained from his time among the Yurok people conveys so much of the spirit of the people and I; too; would someday like to go to the dance he mentions.If you have a love of the land and an appreciation of the spirituality of the Native Americans then this should be of interest.
