A good compilation of source materialBy TsubakiProvides a nice analysis along with source material so that you can understand the various points of view of the Russian colony in California. It also raises some interesting questions that I hope future research may be able to touch upon. I would highly recommend reading it if you are interested in grasping the the various political and financial reasons behind establishing the settlement; as well as its eventual sale. This book isn't for someone looking for a single view point; or a historical drama about the colonist who lived in Fort Ross during the colonial period. Source books have entries written by different people at different times and each source may have its own bias on an event.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Nicely detailed; an easy interestingBy MarcNicely detailed; an easy interesting; informative history lesson...In my schooling. history was not focused on much outside of US history. In depth understanding of events elsewhere in the world is more important to understand than the insulated life we have here.1 of 4 people found the following review helpful. the Russians Were Coming!By Mike LewisInteresting...
