It is the story of a determined people to gain their rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution; and the personalities that helped win the battle against racism and an oppressive state; county; and city government. Charles Fager has done an excellent job in providing us an accurate history of the people and events that helped bring about the Voting Rights Law in America.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great Book for Research!By Joshua KatzI bought this book to use it for some research and here is why. You can not find a lot of books on the Selma Marches; only bits and pieces in a whole lot of books. Selma; 1965: The March That Changed the South; is a great book. It has a whole lot of information in one place. It made it very easy for me to look up specific dates; marches; etc. This is a great book to use if you need information. I gave this book 5 stars becuase it is a great research tool and it tells the story of Selma in 1965 very well. I strongly recommend that children use this book as a research tool for a report.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. FROM THE SOONER NATION.By Danny J. WilsonThese brave people didn't decide to have a march and show up and have one; a lot of planning and thought and work went into it. Having to deal with the white elected officals of Selma was no easy task. This book gives a great behind scenes account of what it took to get it done.I can't believe this book has only one review. It was a very good well researched book.
