I was a Covey pilot who flew with Les as my right-seater supporting other missions deep in enemy territory after he survived these missions. He had other missions which were not included in the book but were equally heroic.. As a Covey rider; he was always very professional and added humor at times to lessen tension in very bad situations. His accounts in the book are gory but accurate.Yes; I agree there are proofing issues but I found them quite minor when the action was the key.I'd strongly encourage reading this book.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Apparently edited by an 8 year old....By J. Douglas BrownI have just today plowed through 17% of the book and decided to call it quits. The prologue is so horribly riddled with errors; including spelling and inappropriate word choices...that I felt I was back in the Air Force trying to break code rather than read a book. I can't believe that ANY literate adult edited this book after the first printing and passed it on for release to the public. Example: "I felt we were ponds in the war." I assume he meant "pawns". There are so many of these I couldn't help but feel the book was almost some kind of "assignment" the writer had where he was required to write 200 pages before he could go home for the weekend.I am a Vietnam vet..I have respect for everyone who served there. I feel that this book is written for other Vietnam vets as the main audience likely to buy it...and they dont deserve a book of this low quality. I gave it two stars instead of one out of respect for this man's service....7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great Story; poor proof reading.By OlyI recently bought this book; there is a little confusion involved do to his telling someone elses story at the beginning. After arriving at SOG the story gets very interesting; I guess Laos can do that for you. He certainly had a story to tell and it was hard to put down. It does lack a little in editing; and I'd say the proofreader may have been on vacation when the story hit his/her desk. It is possible however to follow the train of thought; so I still have to say it is a five star story! Proofreading not so much!
