Review
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Waste of money - do not buyBy Ola Johnsgaard MoenWhy; you might ask.First: this book was first published over 30 years ago; and it shows.Second: it is supposed to cover a far too big and complex theme; or rather several themes; in one small booklet; which it fails dismally.Third: names are garbled; many of the illustrations are either of british or french personalities; scandinavian place names are mangled; and a weird selection of black and white illustrations are given.Four: the colour plates; in Michael Roffes typical style; look more like 70s guys dressed in theatre costumes with a 70s touch than actual napoleonic uniforms or soldiers. The plates also cover an extremely non-representative selection of units; and are mostly based on well known prints and secondary work.Five: I don't know if this is the aythors fault; but the information about the scandinavian parts of the Napoleonic wars is extremely sketchy and lacking in many places.Six: There are no clear organisational listings of the units of the two states; so you will be as much in the dark afterwards as you were before. If the thematic this booklet is supposed to cover interests you; petition Osprey Publishing to commission at least two new booklets; one on the Dano-Norwegian and one on the Swedo-Finnish army of the Napoleonic Wars.
