If you want a 300 page book about the topic that explains everything with lots of personal stories and a broad introduction and conclusion... well you are lookin in the wrong place.I like it when the osprey book covers the small topics that are covered in a good amount of detail in the small format. I've read about the channel dash in other books; but have never read about the dash as the main topic of a book before. normally it is a chapter of a larger book; or a few paragraphs in an overview of the battle of the atlantic. This book covers the dash in a good amount of detail. Does it leave you wanting to no more? I think so; but I think that is inherent in the length of the work. If they do their job well; you should want more and from the resources at the end of the book you will have a great place to start your research in where to read more on the topic.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Bit of Trickery.By CustomerThere are not many things about Adolf Hitler that can be viewed as interesting. But the channel dash is definitely one of them. Hitler absolutely gauged the british reaction to his plan to retrieve these warships. There was every opportunity for the british to bring heavy units to bear against these ships; and in confined waters. But every attempt failed. The radar jamming was particularly interesting. The germans used a light touch; and the british never discovered the ruse. But; in the end these warships never benefitted the german war effort once they got back to friendly waters. Plus they freed up british warships by returning to Germany. But Hitler's plan is nonetheless commendable; because it made the mightiest naval country on the planet look very foolish.
