(except The Stand by Stephen King)In the 90's I saw Showtime's specials featuring some of the stories in this book. I loved them so much and saw in the credits that the shows were based on this book. I swear this was my very first internet or computer based purchase. I bought two copies and today I still have one of them. I've read it many times.I hope that I would be the hero these people were if I were in their situation. It really makes you think about who you are - or at least it did me. There are great pictures and wonderful history about each involved country. You can read for short periods or all night; it is short stories. With my one remaining copy I shared with my closest reading buddies; who know they jeopardized their life by not returning it.Now thanks to and Ebay I found many copies and just bought 9 for my book club friends (was afraid they would not be available later).
