Due to the fact that it was written in the very early 1700's; the style is sometimes awkward to read. Consistent with the spirit of the times; there are many theological references. The role of faith in the lives of people at that time is impressive.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Redeemed CaptiveBy kayThank you so much for getting the book to me so quickly. This paperback was exactly what I was looking for with information on the historic events in Deerfield. Thanks again for giving a sneak peek at the book. When I saw the list of names; I knew it would be beneficial. It is the only book I know of that is this thorough yet concise in reading and description. We all know of the happenings--this book tells the rest of the stories for the descendents researching the time era. A book I will hand down to my family.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Fascinating good for a little researchBy CLB in SyracuseA fascinating read in a 1st person account of the destruction of the town of Deerfield; Ma. and the capture of a large part of its inhabitants in Feb. 1703/04 who were forced to march from Deerfield to Canada. As an amateur genealogogist; the Appendix and notes were very helpful in providing more information to add to my family history.A good addition to my library!!
