Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition); as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits; maps; sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images; so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts; we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Five StarsBy david w reinhartgreat book0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Well-written; entertaining; excellent proseBy Edward H. WiserMany Victorian writers fill their work with such flowery; stilted prose they often obscure their topic rather than illuminate it. Parker is a laudable exception. He writes well; maintains a sense of accuracy; does not try to refight the war; and tells his tale with humor and humanity. This is one of the finest; most objective and truthful Confederate memoirs I have ever read. Craig Symonds is the Dean of Civil War naval historians and has done a superb job bringing Parker's work to a large audience.
