TRAVEL THROUGH THE MISTS OF TIME !!By jormaPrehistoric Belief is a wonderful voyage through the mists of time; journeyed chronologically; it takes us from the Neanderthals to the Druids; exploring the beliefs of the peoples;(of Europe) and the changes; and the consistencies (Shamanism) along the way. The author weaves into the history "first hand vignettes" that place the reader back in time; to "witness" some of the rituals; and the structures of their beliefs as they may have actually occurred. This is a nice touch; and I am glad to say that my "partner" and I persevered; and made it.(it was a little sketchy sometimes) Dr. Williams relies heavily on archaeological evidence throughout; and his reasoning is sound and logical "filling out" what life must have been like; in these past (not documented on Youtube and Facebook) times. Reading through the pages it did make me take notice on how little we truly know about our past; and how important research such as this is. Prehistoric Belief is a very readable volume; that surprised me with its ease of flow;(the brief chapters were surely a help) and is the first work of this genre that ventured into being a "page-turner". A first class effort and result; and judging from the # of reviews; a virtually undiscovered "gem". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. highly recommanded bookBy samobenaI did enjoy this book.I tried reading other books on ancient history; but they were mostly a list of archeological findings; and I never manage to finish those books.Prehistoric Belief is very different : it is easy and pleasant to read; and I did read it entirely in a few days. The author gives archeological evidences; but also personal views; both being clearly stated.I enjoyed the small imaginative stories; about what we might see if we were able to go back in time. The only reproach I could make about this book is that it is focused on death; ancestors and shamanism. Religion in a braoder way could have been mentioned; such as ancient Deities and their cults.highly recommanded book !
