Italians were among the first European settlers in California; as fishermen from Italy arrived in the 1830s. After gold was discovered in 1848; immigrants from all over the world came for the opportunity that California presented. For the Italians; they encountered a terrain and climate so similar to their homeland that many stayed on to make California their new home. In San Joaquin County; the Italian influence remains profound; with the immigrants and their descendants helping develop the area’s cultural; agricultural; and business climate into what it is today. The legacy of the Italian pioneers has enriched San Joaquin County in immeasurable ways. Every aspect of life here has been touched; molded; and made better by this industrious group who came to a distant land to make a better life.

This one was interesting; expanding on some of the Nazi connections I have read elsewhere. The only real problem I had with it (and Part 2 as well) is that it needs editing. Way too many typos and some were so bad it just blurred the meaning and you sit there scratching your head. Overall; I would not say it was a waste of money; I feel the information was useful; and I loaned it to my friend and she enjoyed it as well.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Power QuestBy Gene NumerickI found this book to be very well written and informative. I learned a lot of new information and was reminded of some things I forgot.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Maybe Just MeBy Donnie JeenMaybe just me but I never wholly got into this. Too dry for my liking but that should not stop someone else. I put it down without finishing with the intention of picking it up sometime in the future. Have done that before and been pleasantly surprised with an entirely new outlook on other books. So time will tell.
