Polygamy and Monogamy

ePub Polygamy and Monogamy by Don Milton in History

Description

From the South China Sea to the mountains of Nepal; the continued economic rise of the People’s Republic of China has led to a dramatic shift in the balance of power in the region. As a result; the relationship between China and its neighbors; as well as with the United States and its allies; has become increasingly important for the future of the region – and for the rest of the world. This uniquely compact yet comprehensive directory serves as a richly illustrated; in-depth analysis and overview of the most important conflicts in which China is currently involved – and those that it is likely to be involved with in the future – with a particular focus on People's Liberation Army air power. Few expected the advances in China’s economy and military to be made so quickly. With the surprise collapse of the Soviet Union; a former common enemy was removed from the equation; focusing attention on differing systems of governance; competition in the realms of economics and security; and growing interdependence. While the strategic situation in the region and the interdependent relationships are dynamic and complicated; these themes are explained in clear terms by Andreas Rupprecht; a leading observer of Chinese aerospace and the country’s military-industrial complex; and Tom Cooper; the co-authors of the highly regarded Modern Chinese Warplanes from the same publisher. Flashpoint China is one of the first books in an all-new format from Harpia Publishing. Those readers familiar with Harpia’s previous titles will recognize the layout; color codes and high-quality paper. Compared to earlier Harpia titles; however; the new series are altogether more compact; running to a total of 80 pages; and enabling coverage of ‘smaller’ themes. Of course; these books also retain the now-familiar in-depth coverage; painstaking research and lavish illustrations (around 75 in all) of their ‘bigger brothers’.

I have seen other places to read this book for free; but I'll enjoy having it in my collection.6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. For Traditional ThinkersBy FreedomIsLifeThis is a well-written treatise containing numerous reasons for allowing polygyny within a society - from a Christian point of view. The author does not advocate forced relationships or any form of marital abuse but rather decries them (such as marriage for alliance; divorce; etc.). I agree with the author that marriage should be for love (as well as to prevent sinful living) and that a man may love more than one woman.5 of 7 people found the following review helpful. The Truth of Polygamy and MonogamyBy Hunter ColemanPolygamy and MonogamyThis is an excellent book; published in the mid 1800's. While the book hasn't been published under a specific name; it was noted that a Christian philanthropist wrote it. While I am pleased that the book was historically written long before the 1900's; the author who wrote this book dived into contents highlighting monogamy and its effects; and adding polygamy into this book. Mind you; this is more of a pro-polygamy book and one that pro- and anti-polygamy activists should read! This book will open your eyes; encourage you to strongly think and critically assess what became of monogamy and how polygamy died out. One reason that the author of this book highlighted is that monogamy is man-made; invented by the Roman Catholic Church. Monogamy wasn't often practiced before the death of Christ as polygamous marriages were thriving; a societal norm in many religious societies. Yes; way long before Joseph Smith. While the book highlights monogamy in a stricter lens; focusing on its cause and effect among the primitives; it also highlights specific concerns that still would echo today. The Christian philanthropist predicted CORRECTLY that in our time and age many things would go wrong because of the social ills that monogamy caused. Take for example sexual trafficking. I have been a strong believer that sexual trafficking should be abolished and that it creates so many problems under the guise of legalized prostitution where DMST (Domestic Minor Sexual Trafficking) victims were abused; raped; and victimized by men who sought to fulfill their sexual desires; to survive on "greed"; and to perpetuate more evil on more loving; kind; sweet families.Monogamy; in a way related to sexual trafficking; has broken down and deteriorated the sensitivity of males; forcing them to seek out minors; to purchase; rape and abuse to fulfill sexual desires that singular wives (in monogamous marriages of course) couldn't; refuse; or ignore to help assist in the duties of their marriage to their husbands! Polygamy; in this book; would state that it can help curb; effetively remove and if not; would curb most; of the man's desire to love through sex! This is one of the many issues we are having in society today and this Christian philanthropist knew what would happen! For anyone out there who is NOT interested in reading on the issue of monogamy versus polygamy; do not read this book hoping that monogamy would be "approved". It would be argued against polygamy and while the author goes into detail the cause and effects; it won't give pro-monogamy activists the ammunition they need. It would horrify and tear their eyeballs out because the truth is within these pages! This book is for the open-minded; critical thinker who wants to see what the buzz is all about in polygamy.I recommend this book because it has convinced me that polygamy is what God allowed and should be allowed despite what evil; unreasonable men say!
