Noted Belgian Indologst Koenraad Elst has written a very objective review of this book exposing the lack of objectivity of the editors and a highly one sided selection of articles for inclusion in the book.Wendy Doniger was recently exposed for her work The Hindus; An Alternative History for her perversion in reading sexual themes into every Hindu symbolism even if that defies all logic and goes against well established and widely held meanings of the symbolisms. Due to the misleading content and perverse interpretations with questionable intent; her book was withdrawn in India. She seems to have resurfaced as editor of this book; which provides one sided perspective that suits the anti-Hindu agenda of Wendy Donier; a pseudo scholar with little reputation in matters relating to Sanskrit; Hinduism or Indology. One can read Koenraad Elst's review herehttp://www.dailypioneer.com/sunday-edition/agenda/opinion/understanding-how-the-west-looks-at-india.html9 of 16 people found the following review helpful. This book is edited by two renowned scholars and features essays of a nobel laureate; Amartya Sen and other scholars of Indian history. Most people who are giving a bad review of this is book are mostly likely supporters of the Hindu right; a serious reader of Indian history should not take their comments seriously.
