Theodore Weld walked away from a bright future of pastoring one of the largest churches in America to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Instead of getting a generous salary in a comfortable church; he traveled thousands of miles across America; preaching the gospel of abolition. Proving from the Bible how much God hated slavery; Weld had such a powerful effect that he became "the most mobbed man in America." Well organized mobs were sent to disrupt his meetings. Thugs hired by the wealthy merchants profiting from the slave trade; tried to destroy this man; but they couldn't break his devotion to Christ.In a time when most Pastors were afraid to speak out on slavery lest they lose their denominational credentials and salaries; Weld laid down his life; lost his health; and gave everything he had to preach the truth. This is a powerful biography of how one man can make a huge difference. The more you study Weld the more you see the revival that spread across America until slavery could no longer stand in its way. However; this is heavy reading.
