Out of Ireland: The Story of Irish Emigration to America

DOC Out of Ireland: The Story of Irish Emigration to America by Kerby Miller; Paul Wagner in History

Description

It has been approximately 50 years since these articles have been written. Many were initially submitted to various news organs that were circulated in the black community. This was an age when the demarcation line of the races were clearly marked. Although it was still common to hear of lynching even in the North; within the black community there were two different political persuasions tugging on the minds and hearts of the people. One was the idea of staying with the slave-master and forcing them to give the so-called Negro civil rights and the other was the idea of separation in a state or territory of our own. Schools of thought developed with notables like Elijah Muhammad; a staunch advocate of racial separation on one side; and Martin Luther King; a government sponsored poster boy for racial integration on the other.
