My book club decided to read his book. It was an interesting time capsule about life in the Mississippi Delta in the 50s; especially for him; a black child born into poverty and prejudice. His rise into positions of importance is inspiring; and his writing is elegant and full of kindness. It is a lovely book. It includes pictures.
