Aryae's best friends Efraim and Leah leave San Francisco and head to Jerusalem; where they become ultra-Orthodox Hasidim. Many others from the "House" follow. Aryae stays behind and settles into a secular life as a Silicon Valley business owner. After Shlomo dies; Aryae feels compelled to tell the story. To try to understand the lives of his old friends and pull together the scattered fragments of his own; he travels to Jerusalem. RoweIf you are interested in history as a process; or if you are interested in the Battle of Midway buy this book.For people with a general interest in history; Midway is on of the most dramatic naval battles ever fought; and is possibly the pivotal decisive naval battle in the pacific. The American won; and the official reports; logs; and participants are available. There were many Japanese survivors. Knowing what happened and understanding why it happened should be straight forward. There important questions about the battle; and this book looks at both sides of different issues. Some important questions aren't resolved. The book made me appreciate the likely inaccuracy and incomplete knowledge of other wars and battles.If you a a WW2; Naval History; or Aviation buff this is a good supplement to Shattered Sword. His moderation is superb; and allows the Veteran's stories to come together as one cohesive tale. And what a tale! Midway; for me; has always been the one battle of the Second World War with all the drama and nail biting suspense. Thank You Mr. Russell; for putting together this magnificent collection of stories.
