F11F-1 Super TigerBy Richard SpringerI already owned the F-11 Tiger book in this series and was looking for info on this specific sub-type; I was very pleased with the content and scope of coverage of this fine aircraft. As a youngster I used to watch the Blue angles perform in the original Tiger. I very much would have enjoyed seeing them perform in this aircraft as much as they would have enjoyed flying them. Much has been stated about the J-79 being to heavy for the aircraft; in fact the J-79 was 850lbs. lighter than the J-65 it replaced with double the thrust; much has been stated about short range; in fact it had 3times the range of the current F/A-18F. The Navy screwed the pooch on this airplane. So did the Luftwaffe and the Japanese who both bought into the F-104 Starfighter.j-79 was0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The F11F-1F Super Tiger is in the Top 5 of the most beautiful flying machines ever flown. Maybe the Top 3. This book does it justice; and should be in every aviation aficionado's library.
