Very helpful for understanding some of the Bible's head scratching passagesBy capraeWe have used this in our small group and it has generated some of the best discussion yet. It has caused us to learn some principles and thoughts of the original writers and their times that no other study we've been in has covered. One thing to remember: don't get hung up thinking they are saying the Indonesians are more biblically based in the way they think. They only use examples from there because one of the author's has spent years there as a missionary. If he had spent time in Russia or Brazil then the examples would have come from those cultures. This book is practically shaping the way I understand what is written in the Bible.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It made me look at the Bible with a "new set of eyes."By CarolynGreat book. It made me look at the Bible with a "new set of eyes." I agree with the authors for about 99% of the content...all the way up to the end. Then it was THEIR view that seemed a little too narrow-minded. But still; great book and I highly recommend it.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent!By Jana R KelleyThis book will bring an necessary awareness of cultural values that effect our interpretation of scripture. It is a great start to a lifelong journey of identifying cultural features that greatly effect; and often distort; our understanding of scripture.
