Millington (Images of America)

DOC Millington (Images of America) by Rita Hiltenbrand Hall in History

Description

Food; Power; and Resistance explores the ways in which artistic representations of food and cooks often convey subversive meanings that resist attempts to locate indigenous Andeans-and Quechua women in particular-at the margins of power. This book offers a dynamic; interdisciplinary study of how food's symbolic and pragmatic meanings influence access to power and the possibility of resistance in the colonial and contemporary Andes.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Book!By trojan77I bought this book at 11 am and had it read by 4 pm. I've lived in Millington all of my life and there was a lot of interesting information in this book that I had no idea about. I showed the book to my Dad that afternoon; and I haven't seen the book since. He snatched it up. Good thing I had already finished the book.
