audiobook Mexican Workers and the American Dream: Immigration; Repatriation; and California Farm Labor; 1900-1939 (Class Culture) by Camille Guerin-Gonzales in History

Description

While recent years have seen a flood of literature on the Bill of Rights; this collection of essays; all by highly regarded constitutional scholars; is the first to offer a comprehensive amendment-by-amendment; clause-by-clause account of the Bill's recent sweeping transmutation. The book confirms the suspicions of critics of judicial activism; suggesting that the provisions of the Bill of Rights have been subjected to much greater interpretive revision by the Supreme Court than other parts of the Constitution.

Review
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Historical readBy Angelika N. DimopoulosThis book goes into much of the history of California and Mexican immigration starting from the time of legal migration on daily to annual basis. Very interesting but also gives real light to the embarrassment of how hard-working Mexicans were treated after they were no longer wanted during the Great Depression by the United States government and border patrol.
